September 16, 2004 - Alu Mutor Gobi
(Fresh Cauliflower, Potatoes, Peas, Ginger & Spices - $8.95)
When you just don't want to cook and you're not in the mood for pizza or Chinese again, consider this Indian hole-in-the-wall. Situated in the Marshall's shopping plaza on West-port Avenue, the very reasonable prices and friendliness of the cooks at Kashmir make it a healthy alternative to fast food. While there are a couple of tiny tables, this is really a take-out joint with a complete menu featuring five different kinds of Nan, lots of Las-sis, Tandoori dishes aplenty and many curries. My potatoes, cauliflower and peas curry was simple and delicious, although next time I will ask them to make it spicier.
April 6, 2006 - Indian Rice Pudding
I am continually surprised by the high-quality Indian food at Kashmir Indian Kitchen, which also has the twin virtues of fast service and an affordable lunch special. Kashmir's rice pudding was my favorite of all the versions I sampled. I couldn't tell you precisely what spices were in this orange-colored dessert (cardamom, saffron and almonds are typical), which was so creamy I could hardly distinguish the rice grains. It was delicious, not too sweet and unmistakably Indian, and that's definitely a good thing.

I love Kashmir. The owner and all of the staff are very welcoming and polite. Sadly, they had a fire back in the fall and have been closed since. They should be re-opening soon.
The food is great and my family has been eating here for years and will continue to do so when they reopen.
I wouldn't recommend eating here... the actual restaurant is tiny and it's set up for take out. The prices are cheaper at lunch.

i miss kashmir. i used to live much closer to here, and this was where i got my indian-food-fix more than once a week. i will admit, kashmir wasnt the most fancy or best indian place around but their lunch deal cant be beat - $6.95 and i got my entree choice (usually the palok paneer), rice, some veg fritter, nan .. usually if i go out for indian at lunch time it costs a lot more - most places dont have a good affordable combo like this, they should!! this place turned me on to a lot of other indian dishes too. it was never too hot, too oily, too spicey .. really, these guys always got it just right for me.
the ambiance .. well .. its a tiny hole in a wall in a strip mall, inside there are 4 tables. the people that work there were always super friendly and nice. they do a lot of take out business

Best Indian Food in CT. ohh their food is sooo amazing, I just can't get enough. Their price is reasonable and service is great as well. If you are new to indian food, try their lunch specials. you get to pick your own dish with lots of sides such as breads, rice etc. It will give u an idea of what you like and dont, and its cheaper than the dinner.
